Genetic Diagnosis and Counseling |
Program Description The Section of Genetics at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, provides a full range of services for the diagnosis, counseling and treatment of patients (infants, children, adults and pregnant women) who have or are concerned about genetic and congenital disorders.
Diagnostic genetic testing is conducted for congenital malformations, chromosome disorders, mental retardation, learning disabilities, infertility, miscarriages, paternity, metabolic and molecular disorders. Genetic services are available for all pediatric, prenatal and adult genetic disorders, such as cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, heart diseases, and other late onset diseases.
Our geneticists build on their expertise through world-class clinical research projects. (Click on the Clinical Trials link on the left for a list of open trials.) In addition to clinical trials, we are actively involved in breast cancer and colon cancer risk assessment and presymptomatic testing for Huntington disease.
